From Selvino in San Pellegrino, passing through Lenna

This itinerary starts from ValSeriana and ends in the most important centre of the Val Brembana, San Pellegrino. The passage through the town of Lenna takes you through the historic bridge on the Brembo, in stone, with the typical humpback shape. Then reach Camerata Cornello and visit the historic village of Cornello, which gave birth to the famous family of Tasso, the inventors of the modern postal system to which there is a museum is dedicated. Also in Cornello, there is the church of Saints Cornelio and Cipriano: located at the highest point of the village, it has a curious leaning bell tower. Take the bike back to San Giovanni Bianco, where Arlecchino's birthplace is located, then take the Val Brembana cycle path and cycle through the spectacular tunnel that leads you to the San Pellegrino mineral Spas. Here you have arrived in the small town of Liberty, where the Casino, the Grand Hotel and the spa are perfect examples of this style of the early 1900s. Take part in a very special visit is to the Grotte del Sogno, a karst complex that takes you down underground, to admire the natural spectacles created by water and limestone. To end the day well, allow yourself a visit to the Terme di San Pellegrino: you will leave feel regenerated.

Retorbido Big Bench #124

Created by the Rotary Club Valle Staffora in collaboration with the Nuova Pro Loco and the Municipality of Retorbido, the Big Bench, the giant bench, is part of the Big Bench Community Project, number 124 of the project. The Big Bench located in Retorbido was installed in the airy and peaceful tranquility of the "colle delle Torricelle" (hill of Torricelle), from where you can enjoy an enviable panorama that spans from the Maritime Alps to the Brescia Prealps. From the hill, you can enjoy incredible views of the surrounding vineyards, the Madonna del Monte of Rivanazzano, and Retorbido itself. The more keen observers claim that, in particular weather conditions, it is even possible to see the monastery of the Sacra di San Michele, an iconic symbol of the Piedmont region, located at the entrance to the Val di Susa. To reach the bench, enter Retorbido from the roundabout of Bressana-Salice Terme, cross the village until you reach Via Torricelle. We suggest parking your car in Via Meardi and walking up Via Torricelle to the bench. The bench is also accessible by bike from the nearby GreenWay Voghera Varzi. For those who love walks and landscapes, for those who love running and wellness, 5 km of pure nature and relaxation with L'ANELLO DI RETORBIDO, 5 KM BETWEEN BIG BENCH, NATURE, AND LANDSCAPES.

A walk through the orchards in bloom

The blossoms in Valtellina’s apple orchards are an extraordinary spring awakening. Nature returns to the Rhaetian side of the Alps in April, from the province of Sondrio to Switzerland.   Along this natural border, the alluvial cones in the municipal areas of Ponte in Valtellina, Bianzone, and Semio-Lovero, fertile concavities forming a fan, are ideal for the creation of terraces, where vines and apple trees form the backbone of traditional farming life in Valtellina.  With the arrival of spring in the central Valtellina, there is an authentic sea of blossoms, with flashes of pink and white petals from the apple trees, releasing a sweet, delicate fragrance into the crisp mountain air.  This creates the perfect atmosphere for walks or bike rides around the orchards, using the flower-filled routes to create an itinerary where you can choose your own starting point for a day’s exploring. Cologna, Sernio, Lovero, Villa di Tirano, Chiuro, Ponte in Valtellina, and Tresivio are the locations where you can discover the magic of the apple blossom.   A floral excursion that offers its best in the sunshine, but also an opportunity to explore the characteristic local villages if your trip is affected by the weather. One of these worth visiting is Ponte in Valtellina, a traditional old village with a centre that seems suspended in the mists of time. Cobbled streets and old courtyards, plus uninhabited noble palazzos create a magical setting in which to discover historic churches and local restaurants where you can enjoy a typical lunch. Just over a 15-minute drive from Sondrio and 20 minutes from Tirano, Ponte in Valtellina is right between these two locations, and is a great place from which to explore nature and history in the spring.
