Piacenza is a suitable starting point for this itinerary discovering the Po river: you can reach it by train easily. Take some time to visit the city before hopping on your bike, there are numerous things to see and to taste. Enjoy an appetizing lunch with tortelli pasta and a local stew called stracotto a la piacentina, it will provide you with the necessary energy to pedal towards Cremona.

Ready, set, go! The river Po will be your guide for the following stages. Cross the bridge to enter Lombard territory and take the bankside road. It is asphalted and properly maintained, allowing you to keep up at a decent speed. Keep going along the Po's many creeks, sometimes they will be nearby while others will be far away. You will see cultivated fields followed by small settlements, like Caselle Landi for instance, boasting an interesting castle and buildings. This town was originally located on the right banks of the Po, but  in the late XVIth century the course the river changed and Caselle found itself on the opposite side.

Arriving to Castelnuovo Bocca d'Adda is the sign that you are near the river that bears the same name. Here you must pedal for a few kilometers before finding a bridge and go back to the Po. Keep going for a while and you will arrive to Cremona.
