The initiative is proposed by the cultural association ArcaDomus, represented by President Elisabetta Gesmundo, and sponsored by the City Council. Mayor Roberto Lasagna and Culture Councillor Vanessa Morandi will bring institutional greetings. The works, some 30 watercolors and acrylics, will remain on display from Sept. 13 to Nov. 2, 2025. During that period, a concert for violin and harp by musicians Luca Marzolla and Caterina Bergo is planned, at the same time the book "The Incredible Life-History of Madame de Genlis-" set in 18th-century France, written by the harpist herself, will be presented.
The characteristics of the territory that Laura Gioso portrays are those of the Po Valley, in this sense the similarities with the environment in which San Benedetto Po develops are highlighted, thanks to the presence of the great River. It is worth mentioning that the Po Valley has originated great artistic values and is a "depository place of world art." The painter's stylistic research places a 39;special attention on the study of color, veiled and shaded gestures, her artistic expression is a clear search for a singular style that characterizes her.
The main subjects elaborated are the elements of nature, the close relationship with water, sky and earth.Laura Gioso is an abstract-figurative painter, sometimes with gestural elements related to 39;expressionism, her abstraction is not something incomprehensible, but a different way of looking at and analyzing reality. Living among the waters of the Po, the Adige and the dense network of ditches and canals makes the author fall in love with that environment, her Polesine, with which she enters into a deep contact of empathy; but it is not enough for her. Sometimes from this territory she wants to escape, but she does not abandon it because from the roots she draws energy, dynamism, creativity and desire to go beyond imagination. A special place the Polesine, in constant transformation, season after season and, as on the ground, so the flow of water, permeates the artist's state of mind inducing her fantastic visions, stimulating creativity that she transforms on the canvas into images veiled in emotions. The water, with its continuous flow, allows for extraordinary colors and reflections.
The Padania, a flat land characterized by diffuse humidity and mists, sometimes conceals and sometimes dissolving modifies the real but, thanks to the effects of such dreamlike visions, reserves countless perceptions and emotional reactions. Living near 39;water therefore favors her creative, imaginary, imaginative journey, readable in her works. Laura Gioso was born in Rovigo where she lives and works, attended art high school in Padua and the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. She has been a teacher in high schools in Venice and Rovigo. Her works are kept at the Ca' Pesaro Museum in Venice, the Museum of Modern Art in Nice, the Fondazione G. Agnelli in Turin, the Young Museum in Revere, and the Accademia dei Concordi in Rovigo. She has exhibited in public and private galleries, in important cities in Italy and abroad, mainly in the United States. Many are the critics and art historians who have spoken about her in specialized magazines and newspapers.
