August is about relaxation, time with friends and family, and good food.

There are people who look for some relaxation in the mountain villages, with nature hikes and festivals for typical products; then there are those who prefer life at the lake, with walks, music festivals and light shows; and then, there are people who enjoy the city in its quietest season, with cultural events and evenings out with friends.

Under the stars of the night of St Lawrence and with celebrations for the August 15th holiday, the provinces of Lombardy can offer a varied calendar of events to enjoy the very best of summer.

BERGAMO and province

Alla scoperta delle Grotte del Sogno [Discovering the Caves of Dreams] — 1 - 30 August — San Pellegrino Terme
Guided tours of the Caves of Dreams take you underground, below the area of La Vetta, above San Pellegrino Terme. On the tour it is possible to find out the story of how they were discovered and to take a close look at the formations slowly created by the water. An enchanting experience that is perfect for those wanting to alternate a visit to the spa town with an activity immersed in the nature and geology of the area.

Valle Imagna nel cuore: nature, tradition and local crafts, together to tell you authentic stories —  2 to 16 August — Various locations
An event that animates different municipalities of the Valle Imagna, with performances, music, workshops, and activities specially for families. Different events in squares and town centres to make the most of crafts, local traditions, and links with the area. With travelling performances, children’s entertainments, and food and wine events, the initiative offers a great opportunity to get to know the valley and the communities who live there.

43rd Festival of San Rocco — 14-17 August — Riva di Solto
The Festival of San Rocco brings evenings for food, music, and entertainment to Riva di Solto for a great friendly atmosphere and views of Lake Iseo. Dinner is available at the oratory and parish before the performances, while the traditional lights on the lake create an even more enchanting atmosphere. The programme also includes play activities especially for children and families.

BRESCIA and province

Panoramic carriages on the Sebino Railway — 1 - 29 August — Paratico
A charming tourist train ride along the line between Paratico-Sarnico and Palazzolo sull’Oglio, offering an original way to discover Lake Iseo and the Franciacorta area. The carriages, with seating that faces the outside, offer views out over vineyards, countryside, villages, and the lake. A relaxing experience to combine with walks, visits to wineries, or local tastings.

Beer Lago Monte Isola — 6 - 9 August — Menzino
Beer Lago Monte Isola turns Menzino into a meeting point dedicated to craft beer, music, and street food. With tastings, concerts and special initiatives, the event is dedicated to people wanting to enjoy a fun, relaxed summer evening without sacrificing any of the lakeside charm. There is even a shuttle service from Peschiera Maraglio for easier access to the event.

Le Notti del Vino — 26 and 27 August — Lonato del Garda
Le Notti del Vino [Wine nights] are the setting for two evenings of tastings, music and culture in the charming Visconti Fortress of Lonato del Garda. Lakeside views in an elegant atmosphere for an event that celebrates wine-making excellence and local flavours, for a mix of taste, history and countryside with a pleasing, refined experience that is profoundly linked to the local identity.

Traversata del Lago d'Iseo 2026 — 30 August — Iseo
La Traversata del Lago d’Iseo is a non-competitive swimming race in the waters between Predore and Iseo, along a three-kilometre route. The organisation includes transfer of the participants to the starting line and arrival at Giardini Garibaldi. An exciting event that is ideal for those who love sport and who want to experience the lake from a 
different perspective, sharing the experience with lots of other participants.

7th Cortintelvi - International Short Film and Documentary Festival — from 4 - 23 August — Various locations
Cortintelvi takes its public through the villages of Valle Intelvi, Lake Como, and Lake Ceresio, with short films, documentaries, meetings, and presentations. Cinemas, palazzos and civic centres become spaces for dialogue with new film makers, professionals and film-goers. Special focus is reserved to schools and new generations, in an elegant blend of contemporary creativity and the local area.

Floating Stage Lake Como, the stage of wonders — 16 - 26 August — Various locations
Floating Stage Lake Como shows concerts on a charming floating stage in different locations on the lake. Performances at dawn and dusk enter into dialogue with the water, the light and the villages, creating stunning atmospheres and effects. Every event becomes an invitation to discover the history of the location and the area’s excellent food and wine.

61st Sagra del Missoltino — 22 August — Tremezzina
The Sagra del Missoltino [Shard fish festival] brings back a tradition, deeply linked to the identity of Lake Como, to the municipal park of Mezzegra. Organised by Pro Loco Mezzegra, the local tourist association, this event celebrates one of Lake Como’s most characteristic dishes, making the most of the relationship between taste, memory and the local area.

CREMONA and province

Cremona Summer Festival — 1 - 25 August  — Cremona
Cremona Summer Festival celebrates music and the tradition of the luthier, with concerts, master-classes and meetings that attract young players, teachers, and orchestras from other countries. The exhibitions, which are free while seats are available, bring symbolic locations in the city to life, enhancing the deep bond between Cremona, musical training and the master craftsmanship of its master luthiers.

Chiacchiere e Tortelli 2026 — 11 - 16 August — Crema
Chiacchiere e Tortelli pays homage to Crema’s gastronomic tradition, in Piazza Aldo Moro. The event is dedicated to the famous tortelli, live music and sociability. Every evening, the public can enjoy the more authentic flavours of local cuisine in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Entry is free of charge and the organisation is curated by the Carnevale Cremasco Committee.

Festival tra Lago e Monti 2026 — 2 August - 9 September — Various locations
The Festival tra Lago e Monti [Lake and Mountain Festival] takes the public on a musical journey between the Lecco branch of Lake Como and Valsassina. The churches, villas, terraces, and piazzas in the local villages welcome classical music, jazz and international repertoires. LODI and province

Ferragosto Sanrocchino —  7 - 17 August — San Rocco al Porto
Ferragosto Sanrocchino invites you to enjoy San Rocco al Porto through the aroma of the local cuisine and the atmosphere of a festival that is strongly tied to the community. Rather than a simple summer event, this is an occasion for meeting and conviviality, able to bring both residents and visitors together around local flavours and the pleasure of spending the August evenings together.

Cycle tourism in Adda Sud Park — 29 August — Lodi
The cycle tourism route organised by Lodi CAI (Italian Mountaineering Association), covers some 50 kilometres in the Adda Sud Park, above all on dirt tracks. This route, devised for gravel and mountain bikes, is  accessible in terms of difficulty, as well as being suitable for people looking for a slow ride through natural surroundings. Helmets and puncture kits are obligatory, and it is also necessary to sign up before taking part.
