Pertus Pond

A vantage point reflecting the sky. This is how the Laghetto del Pertus appears in the eyes of hikers venturing along the paths of the Imagna Valley.   The lake, located on a vantage point overlooking the valley, can be easily reached from Forcella Alta. When in front of this rounded stretch of water, you can stop for a short break at the refreshment point or at one of the food trucks that stop in the area during the weekends to sell local products. Once the stop is over, you can continue north towards Mount Ocone (1353 metres) or south towards Mount Tesoro (1432 metres).Due to the gently sloping trail, the Pertus pond is an ideal destination for families and those who are not used to this type of activity.   (Ph: turismovalleimagna.it)

Cornabusa Sanctuary

It is located in the municipality of Sant'Omobono Terme, on the eastern side of the Imagna Valley. Perched in an impervious area near the Pertüs pass along the Albenza mountain one can find the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Cornabusa, a building dedicated to the Virgin Mary.   The holy place was carved out of a natural cavity or “rock hole” corna busa in the local dialect. During the devastation caused by the constant battles between the Guelphs and Ghibellines that took place for almost a century between the 14th and 15th centuries, it had become a refuge for the inhabitants of the surrounding communities, who brought a statue of the Madonna into the grotto. The statue was later lost and found again in the 16th century. It is said that the person who found it was a deaf shepherdess who miraculously regained her hearing. Since then, the cave has been a pilgrimage destination and has become a stone shrine, surrounded by greenery and a point of reference for all the inhabitants of the valley.
