Visit to Annone Brianza
SATURDAY 11 JULY 2020
Villago offers a fascinating cultural walk in the historic village of Annone Brianza, the town of “towers” that overlook the lake of the same name. We will begin the route from the hill above the town, where we will visit the interior of the ancient oratory of San Giorgio, built at the end of the 11th century and rebuilt in the late 15th century, famous for its works, its ancient bell tower and for its beautiful Ancona of the Passion of the ‘500 – rare wooden specimen recognized even internationally. We will then continue to Villa Cabella, the historic noble residence of Annone, obviously with a lookout tower: we will visit the park, but also its halls and its historic kitchens, important custodians of the culinary tradition of lake fish and the famous “Annone potato”. Next, we will walk along the small streets of the historic center, to discover other noble residences, an eclectic brick church – similar to the old English buildings – and a 1950s village of the ‘900 built by the Dutch, who fell in love with this wonderful place. We will conclude the itinerary in front of Lake Annone, perhaps the most beautiful attraction in the country, the true motif of the towers and of such beauty, created over the centuries by both Nature and Man.
The route will wind for about 2.5 km., Comfortable shoes are recommended.
