Mantua, City of Water, Flavors and Poetry, in the Footsteps of Virgil
Activity carried out as part of the project ''Navigando fra Storia, Fiume e Sapori - un percorso esperienziale in un territorio autentico della Lombardia'' (Navigating through History, Rivers and Flavors - an experiential journey through an authentic territory of Lombardy), validated under the Lombardy Style 2025 call for proposals of the Lombardy Region.
PROGRAM
Sept. 27: Lakes of Mezzo and Inferiore, in Mantua in the Mincio Park Reserve
Departure time 10 a.m.
Arrival time 5 p.m.
Navigation on Lago di Mezzo e Inferiore in view of the more classic architectural scenery of the Gonzaga city reflected in the waters of its lakes. Navigation then proceeds into the Vallazza among the characteristic presences of flora and fauna living in this protected wetland of the Mincio Natural Park, where white and yellow water lilies, water chestnuts and lotus flowers bloom in the summer months. Return to Mantua, free lunch followed by a guided tour of the historic center and the Virgil Museum.

October 15: Mantua at sunset and the flavors of Virgil

Arrival time 8 p.m.
Mantua can be discovered from different views but it is at sunset that it becomes, most fascinating, mysterious and poignant. In the evening the monuments reappear illuminated and are reflected in the dark water of the lake with extraordinary scenic effect.
Meet at the pier on Lago di Mezzo board the Andes 2000 motorboat and cruise the lower lakes and the Mincio valley. In the valley of the water lilies and in front of "Virgil's house" in Pietole a tasting will be served with local flavors related to Virgilian literature. Return to Mantua.
