Valle Trompia: a cultural itinerary of art, history and nature

Located in eastern Lombardy, Val Trompia is one of Brescia's three main valleys. Its particular morphological characteristics make it a tourist destination of both historical and naturalistic importance.

Its popularity is amplified by its accessibility: the valley can be reached by public transport from the city of Brescia (about 30 km away). Its proximity to the A4 motorway puts it within easy reach not just for visitors from around Lombardy, but across the whole of northern Italy.
In addition to the exceptional pre-Alpine landscape, dominated by the imposing silhouette of Mount Maniva and the rushing waters of the river Mella, the area is linked to mining, ironworking and manufacturing. For centuries, mines, forges and melting furnaces played a significant role in the land's history. Although long silent, this historical and cultural heritage has recently been the focus of a work of conservation and enhancement.
The project, carried out by the Mining Park Agency of Alta Valle Trompia and, in a wider context, by the Valle Trompia Museum System, has prevented the neglect and degradation of the valley and helped renew its collective memory and identity.
Let's begin our journey into Val Trompia's heritage, exploring the most iconic locations of its history.
