Parks, waterways and castles near Lodi | A journey through history and nature

With its waterways, castles and rare wildlife, Lodi is an ideal destination for outdoor trips in the beautiful countryside.

Set between the rivers Adda, Lambro and Po and bordered to the north by the Muzza-Addetta canal, this is a corner of Lombardy whose distinctive, unusual character makes it a must-visit. The Lodi countryside is defined by its natural and man-made waterways, typical elements of a territory requiring constant irrigation for its many fields. The flavoursome cuisine reflects the area's agricultural vocation.
A land rich in historical and cultural sites, whose artistic heritage is evident not just in every corner of the city of Lodi, but in the countless surrounding villages, too. While priceless paintings, sculptures and artifacts of the area's agricultural tradition are jealously guarded in museums and art collections, testaments to its glorious past - churches, abbeys, historic buildings and castles - are scattered throughout the territory.
Thanks to its smooth, flat landscape, easy accessibility and a cycle network covering over 500 kilometres, the "fertile land of Lodi" enjoys a special relationship with nature. Dotted with parks, reserves and natural oases of outstanding beauty, including a number of Sites of Community Importance (SCI), it is a land that should be explored with that leisurely thoroughness only reserved for the best things in life.
Let us set out on a tour of Lodi's parks and natural oases, for a restorative experience in this bountiful territory.

The trail of memories and labours

This trail was dedicated to the memory of the inhabitants of Castione who, in the past generations, walked along this path carrying heavy pack baskets. The path linked the highest part of the town to the valley floor and allowed people to carry out farm works.
