Walking among villas, parks and botanic gardens — The scent of flowers fills the air during spring. Lecco's parks and botanical gardens awake and get colored before your very eyes. Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi in Varenna, the Gaspare De Ponti botanical garden in Calolziocorte, Villa Bertarelli in Galbiate, the Valmadrera botanic orchard and Eve's Garden in Montevecchia…green corners waiting to be admired, smelled and photographed!

Walk the wayfarer's path — The mild weather and sunny days awake the desire to enjoy art, culture and, why not, a nice walk: the Wayfarer's Path along the eastern side of Lake Como is a 40 km long path that will easily take you from the Larian Abbey to Colico. While walking it you will see architectural treasures from the Romanical period that will open both your eyes and heart!

Visiting fortresses and castles...signs of a glorious past! — Charge! Lecco's castles and strongholds await for adults and children in order to have an exciting day: bearing witness of a distant past, from the Middle Ages to World War I, they remind us the importance of protecting this land. The Castle of Vezio in Varena, with its imposing crenellated tower and falcons soaring on the blue sky above, the Fort of Fuentes in Colico was built by the Spanish in 1600 while the Fortress of Montecchio Nord was erected in the early XXth century with still-functioning cannon emplacements.

Get your bike and helmet and start pedaling! — Lake Garlate's cycling and pedestrian lane will welcome you into a 20 km ringway that is suitable for the whole family. Depart from downtown Lecco, where you can rent a bike, the path traverses lakeside towns, which boast various museums and churches that will provide your visit with plenty of culture and history. If you wish to extend the trail, the towpath of the Adda River offers an itinerary through the woods that leads to Milan.

Discover the locations from a famous book — Lecco is the city that inspired Alessandro Manzoni to write his famous novel, The Betrothed, although the "large borough" has become a city now. Let's walk with the writer in search of the places that gave him the ideas for his work, starting with the house where he spent most of his youth in. Afterwards we can head to the former Capucine Monastery of Pescarenico and the districts where the house of Lucia Mondella is supposed to be located. Then there is Don Rodrigo's Mansion and the Fortress of Innominato towering over town.
