Alpe Piazza Refuge
Snowshoeing to Alpe Piazza: a great hike to learn about snowshoeing and the Orobic mountain range
To begin to learn about snowshoeing and get the hang of it, or rather, your feet, the best advice we can give you is to start with an easy route, just like the one to Rifugio Alpe Piazza.
In the province of Sondrio, this route becomes a snowshoe hike in winter suitable for everyone, with the destination a splendid view of the Orobic chain.
It starts from the village of Albaredo per San Marco, in the territory of Morbegno, where you can park your car. Here, already at an altitude of 1350 m, there are signs for the trail, marked by white and red bolts or signs indicating the refuge.
Entering the forest surrounded by beech and pine trees, there is the first slightly steep section, until first reachingScoccia and then Corte Grassa. The snowshoeing begins to be flat before Corte Grande, where it becomes more strenuous again.
After a fountain, we enter a beautiful coniferous forest until we see the sky again at 1750 m altitude where we find a sign indicating Baitridana. Here we are close to our destination.
One more stretch and we reachAlpe Piazza, at 1835 m, where the Refuge is located, and where you can finally rest while observing a splendid view of the entire Orobic chain, while having lunch at the refuge.
Several hikes start from here, to Bivacco Legüi, Laghetto Alpe Lago or to Monti Lago and Pisello, which you can decide to do with snowshoes or simply on foot.
For those who want to start practicing with snowshoes, without forgetting the adventure and excitement of walking in new areas surrounded by nature, this is the ideal itinerary!
