The guided tour by Neiade through the rooms of the museum

Our guided tour of the Pinacoteca starts from the courtyard of the Academy, facing the statue of Napoleon Bonaparte portrayed as Mars the Peacemaker. This copy in bronze which the Righetti brothers wanted and inspired by the neoclassical statue by Canova, is an introduction to the history of the Pinacoteca, created in the Napoleonic era in the place of the Academy of Fine Arts founded by Maria Teresa of Austria.
The solemn and statuesque pose of the French leader will welcome you at the start of the guided tour, conducted by our professional guides through the magnificent rooms of the museum, recently renovated leaving space for brightly coloured walls and highly advanced educational material.

Let yourself be amazed by the finest masterpieces of the history of Italian art. Our tour will take you in front of the Lamentation over the Dead Christ by Mantegna, the Montefeltro Altarpiece by Piero della Francesca and Supper at Emmaus by Caravaggio, the famous views of Venice by Canaletto, the splendid Marriage of the Virgin by Raphael and the romantic Kiss by Hayez… but there is much more! There are many works of Lombard art, with the paintings by great masters such as Bernardino Luini and Bramantino.

The trasures of Pinacoteca of Brera

Of great interest and beauty on this guided tour of the Pinacoteca of Brera are also the Jesi, Vitali and Mattioli collections,  which go back over part of the twentieth century, with works by Braque, Carrà, Modigliani, De Pisis,  Modigliani, Morandi, De Chirico and even Picasso. The project is to add them to the future display of Palazzo Citterio as part of the project known as Grande Brera.

There is more than just the Pinacoteca… The nerve centre of the great Palazzo di Brera, built by the architect Giuseppe Piermarini in 1776, the Pinacoteca lives in harmony with other great institutions of the city of Milan, which will certainly be remembered on this guided tour: the Braidense National Library, the Observatory of Brera, the Botanical Gardens, the Lombard Institute of Sciences and Letters and the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera.
