From Mantua to Ostiglia

Say goodbye to Mantua and keep pedaling along the left side of the Mincio river. If you wish take the detour to San Biagio and Bagnolo San Vito in order to traverse both localities and perhaps find where to have lunch.

Then see the confluences of both rivers, important places where numerous battles have taken place, like the 1848 inssurections for instance.

You can take another detour towards Borgo Virgilio from Governolo, there you will find the Fort of Magnaguti. Go beside the Po's riverside roads while getting further into the countryside. Near a tight curve of this river stands the village of Ostiglia, which is known for its cake with almonds and zabaione filling. Take some time to visit it and try a slice of this peculiar dessert. On the opposite side of the Po you can find the Secchia bike lane.
