s Rifugio Gerli-PorroIseasily reached from the village of Chiareggio, in the municipality of Chiesa Valmalenco, using a convenient mule track.

The track starts to the left of the small church dedicated to Sant'Anna in the center of the hamlet. You go down to the Mallero stream and cross it with a wide wooden bridge. At the fork, turn right and continue in the direction of Sondrio along the wide trail. It is a trail that is also passable by mountain bike until about a hundred meters from the refuges, where it becomes more vertical and the bottom becomes uneven. You are constantly accompanied on the right, along the ascent, by the stream that as you gain elevation gets lower and lower. You are immersed in a fragrant forest of firs and larches, interrupted here and there by small valleys that in the winter period act as chutes for large amounts of snow from the slopes above.

Toward the end of the trail, when you begin to catch a glimpse of the characteristic red roof of the Gerli-Porro Refuge, the mule track becomes a little more impassable and stony, you cross a gandon diagonally and reach the refuge.

The sight of the red roof will encourage anyone to get there as soon as possible to taste the delicacies of the refuge and enjoy the quiet of nature. We are at the beginning of the wide plateau of Alpe Ventina, enclosed on the left by the Cime del Duca, Rachele, Sassersa, Giumellini and Cassandra peaks, in front by the imposing mass of Mount Disgrazia, while on the left the semicircle is completed by Punta Kennedy and Pizzo Ventina. Venturing into the pasture, one also easily reaches Rifugio Ventina (1975 meters), a privately owned structure that has 46 beds and guarantees opening during the same periods as the hut described above.

These huts can be used as an end point of a peaceful walk or as a base for climbing the countless surrounding peaks.
