The Oasis is located south of Como. It is a crescent-shaped depression around a hill of glacial origins.

The territory of about 90 hectares is divided into three areas: meadow, forest and marsh. The meadows extend into the southern part of the Oasis and border the marsh where ponds and small lakes were formed due to the extraction of peat over the centuries.

The forest is mainly coppice. Without a doubt, the birds are the main attraction of the oasis and its most characteristic residents, with species such as moorhens, mallards, the great spotted woodpecker and marsh harriers. Over 20 species of mammals also inhabit the oasis, including badgers, foxes, hares, wild rabbits, water shrews, water voles and squirrels.

Many types of amphibians and fish live in the lakes and ponds such as the lake frog, carp and tench. There is also a great variety of plant species, ranging from reeds and arboreal formations to English oaks, hornbeams, black alders, several species of willow, elm and birch until you get to the meadow areas.

Along the Nature Trail, enriched with educational panels and bulletin boards, guides illustrate the history of the oasis and its inhabitants.

Visitors are then accompanied to the observatory where you can closely observe the inhabitants of the swamp. Be sure to wear shoes suitable for a wetland and bring binoculars.

Visits can be planned based on the educational needs of teachers.
