In Monza for the Foliage

From the Villa Reale Gardens to the monumental trees in Monza Park, find the best corners to enjoy the foliage.

In autumn the foliage of the Villa Reale Gardens and Monza Park is a sight to be seen: a spectacle of nature with suggestions on the interactive map of the Royal Residence of Monza (Reggia di Monza) to follow step by step.

A stone's throw from Milan, the Gardens of Villa Reale and Monza Park are one of the most beautiful places in Lombardy to observe the changing seasons, in pursuit of a palette of colours stolen from an impressionist painting. Among beeches and oaks, rows of hornbeams and horse chestnuts, the map of the Reggia di Monza (click here to follow it) visitors are steered towards the finest settings, sorted according to the hues of the trees.

With the map, you can easily discover more beautiful colours than ever, but even without it, the experience will thrill you. Because Monza Park - built in 1805 because Josephine Bonaparte wanted a park that would be bigger than the gardens of Versailles - is a small forest in the city, with 110,000 tall trees. Our suggestion? If you enter the park from via Lecco and continue towards Villasanta, you’ll find two delightful rows of linden trees that have spawned the “cathedral of the elves”, whose vaults turn bright yellow in October and November.
