Sport a milano

Milan is the city of sport.

Milan is big on sport and football is very popular because of the city's two world-famous teams (Milan and Inter) and the massive Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, known as the San Siro Stadium.

This is one of the largest football stadiums in the world (it can seat 80,000 people) and you can take a tour around it and also visit the Museum next-door. There is also a racecourse in the San Siro area of the city and champion trotters like Varenne and Crevalcore have run here.

In March the Stramilano race takes place. Launched in 1972, the sports event is open to non-professional runners too. At the Idroscalo, Milan's answer to the seaside, you can go canoeing and rowing, or take a speed boat out. During the summer there are events, concerts and festivals here and there is a lido with lots of facilities for families with small children.
