Labels, brands and trends: useful tips for an awesome wardrobe
Everyone knows that Milan is the capital of fashion, but not everybody knows it is also the city of discount shopping.
Have the latest fashion shows left you with a burning desire for a designer outfit you really cannot live without? Did you see a pair of shoes on the runway that would be a perfect match for your wardrobe?
Good. Well, instead of being discouraged by prices that are often beyond one's reach, why not take off and go round the outlets and warehouses scattered in and around the city, and practice keeping your eyes peeled? Because hunting down an item of clothing or of furnishing at advantageous price is an art and, above all, you must be fully acquainted with the right addresses to visit. Shopaholics – this mini-guide is for you!
So let's start with footwear, the blessing and curse of all women, because, as Forrest Gump rightly observed, "momma always said you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes, where they go, where they've been".
Well, the sportier of you could visit the Puma Outlet Factory in Viale Montenero, the Kickers Outlet, good for kids too, in Via Mecenate 76, the Superga shop in Via Olgia 18 at Segrate or the Geox one, at the Segrate Outlet, or the Timberland Factory Outlet, in Via Piave 26, at Pero.
For that touch of unmistakeably classic style, there is the outlet of Calzaturificio Fratelli Rossetti, a bit out of town at Parabiago, in Via Cantù. Shoes, but also designer accessories and women's wear, at interesting prices, are to be found in the legendary outlet of 10 Corso Como or, moving towards the Fashion District, also at Dmagazine Outlet, a sort of archive of luxury brand clothing, in three sales locations - one in Via Bigli 4, another in Via Manzoni 44 and the other in Via Forcella 13. If, on the other hand, you love Italian-made fine fabrics and elegant clothes, Etro Outlet in Via Spartaco 3 is the place for you - two floors entirely devoted to the Italian brand, where you will find not only Men's and Women's collections, but also accessories and home furnishing fabrics.
Top quality knitwear, soft flowing cardigans and coats from previous collections, all in the unmistakeable style of Martino Midali, can be found at Affari Midali, in Via Fratelli Bronzetti, with discounts from 20% to 60%. If looking for women's lingerie, chic underwear and some special accessories, go to the Outlet of Pierre Mantoux, in Via Modigliani 25 at Segrate. And lastly, don't forget the house – fans of Philippe Stark, Vico Magistretti, Joe Colombo and design enthusiasts in general can buy from the Kartell outlet at Noviglio, a huge range of remarkable furniture in colourful plastic.
