Sony World Photography Awards
From September 14th to October 28th, the Villa Reale in Monza will host the eleventh edition of the Sony World Photography Award exhibition. It will be the third consecutive year that the awards will be displayed on the prestigious second main floor of the impressive palace. A gallery of 226 stunning images spanning different genres and themes and highlighting the diversity of experiences around the world from architecture to landscapes, street photography, wild animals, personal portraits and voyages.
The award-winning shots document international cultural and political events, narrate stories of places and people from all over the globe and interpret subjects linked to everyday life. As for the previous editions, Italian artists scooped a number of prestigious awards. Indeed in this year's edition there were three winners and three finalists in the Professional competition.
Gianmaria Gava won the Architecture category with the series ‘Buildings’, Luca Locatelli won the Landscape category with his ‘White Gold’ series and Roselena Ramistella took 1st place in the Nature and wild animals category with ‘Deep Land’. Amongst the finalists, Antonio Gibotta won second place in the ‘Discovery’ section, and Matteo Armellini and Eduardo Castaldo, the third prize in the Sport and Creative Photography section. This year the National Award went to Caterina Bruzzone with the image titled ‘Exit’, one of the finalist works in the Architecture category of the Open 2018 competition, in which Caterina also received an honourable mention for another shot.
