Palio del Baradello 37° Edition
Palio del Baradello has reached its 37° edition: the historical re-enactment of the arrival of Federico Barbarossa in our city, will start on 30 August 2018.
The program as every year is full of events, it starts on August 30th with the offer of the votive candle. In addition to the official races (Regata delle lucie, Cariolana, Tug of war), a Celtic Harpa concert is scheduled, guided tours, activities for children and families and, not to be missed, on Sunday 16 September the arrival of the emperor in the city Federico Barbarossa with the participation of all the villages, the Contrade and the Municipalities participating in the Palio.

Thursday, 30 August 2018 – Basilica of Sant’Abbondio, 08.30 PM: Offer of votive candle
Sunday 2 September 2018 – Castel Baradello, 3.00 PM: Visit the stone sentinel and exhibition of various groups
Thursday 6 September 2018 – Appointment in front of the Civic Museums, 05.00 PM: Guided tour organized by the Comense Archeological Society
Saturday 8 September 2018 – Piazza Cavour, Piazza Duomo and Broletto, 05.30 PM: Landing in Como of Emperor Federico Barbarossa; 8.30 PM: Medieval dinner
Sunday 9 September 2018 – Villa Olmo, 03.00 PM: Afternoon dedicated to children; 05.00 PM: from the shore in front of Villa Sucota first official race: Lucie Regatta
Thursday 13 September 2018 – Church of San Giacomo, 09.00 PM: Concert of the Celtic Harp Orchestra
Friday 14 September 2018 – Borgo di Sant’Agostino, from 08.30 PM: Race of the Lavender race
Saturday 15 September 2018 – Piazza Duomo, 03.00 PM: Official race: the tug of war; 05.30 PM: representation of a medieval marriage; 09.00 PM: official race: the Cariolana
Sunday 16 September 2018 – From the Ippocastano area to Piazza Cavour, from 02.30 PM: Great historical procession; 05.00 PM Piazza Cavour spectacular exhibition of all the groups that participated in the parade. Assignment of the Palio, proclamation of the Village winner of the Palio 2018 and delivery of the cloth
