Jazz music invades the streets of Lecco, the town of “The Betrothed”. Here below the programme of the concerts around the city:

Thursday 19th July – 09.00 PM, Piazza Garibaldi – KENNY GARRETT “The Quintet” – Over the course of an extraordinary career of more than thirty years, Kenny Garrett became one of the most important sax players of his generation and, with no doubt, the most imitated. Since his first professional
signing with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, and then collaborating with performers of the likes of Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers and Miles Davis, Garrett has always brought about the vigorous, melodic and unmistakable sound of his alto saxophone.
In 2008-2009 he played in Chick Corea and John McLaughlin’s supergroup “Five Peace Band”, with Christian Mc Bride at the bass and Vinnie Colaiuta at the drums, and recorded the album with the same name that won the Grammy Award in 2010. With more than 200 collaborations as a sideman with innumerable music icons and more than 20 albums as bandleader, Kenny Garrett is constantly growing as a composer.

Sunday 22 nd July – from 10.00 AM to 7.00 PM, Piazza XX Settembre – THE BIG PIANO – Entertainment and music dances on a 6-meter (19.8 ft) long keyboard played with your feet. Everybody will be allowed to play it: children, kids, and adults will be able to learn some short melodies or to simply cross it on an easy musical walk. Also during the day, actual shows are planned with choreographies of famous records performed by a professional
dancer.

Friday 27th July – 09:00 PM, Piazza Garibaldi – ROSSANA CASALE “Ballads Duo” – Rossana Casale is back on stage with a touching piano-and-voice concert, where she will reinterpret the songs taken from her most significant works dadicated to jazz, what she calls “my true soul”. Records like “Jazz in me”, “Billie Holiday in me”, albums that in the past took her to long tours and earned her important awards by the critics and a lot of carrer recognition. Casale is adding songs by Thelonious Monk, her great passion, to the schedule by taking from Carmen McRae’s versions, who made lyrics and sung versions of his most significant pieces. On stage with Casale, Emiliano Begni, excellent eclectic pianist, who’s been accompanying the singer for more than ten years.

Saturday 21st July and Sunday 22nd July  from 10.00 AM to 7.00 PM – PIANOS IN THE CITY – 6 pianos on various spots throughout the city for free use: Piazza Lega Lombarda station – Piazza Garibaldi  – Piazza Era – Pescarenico – “Alessandro Manzoni” hospital – Platform on the Lake – Lungo Lario Isonzo – “Politecnico” of Milan – Lecco campus.
