The Monteverdi Festival comes across the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival for an unusual concert out of town, featuring Ignazio Donati’s Salmi Boscarecci. Recommended by Monteverdi himself, Donati was kapellmeister in Casalmaggiore. His concertato style is admirable and expresses the spatial grandeur that was typical of the Venetian so called coro battente.
