Concerto da Camera - Franco Marrocco
From September 14th to October 30th, the Villa Reale Apartments will host ‘Concerto da Camera’ the new solo show by the contemporary artist Franco Marrocco. A site-specific installation designed and created for the noble halls of the Villa Reale of Monza.
As the title ‘Concerto da camera’ suggests Marrocco has been predominantly driven by his ability to relate two elements, rhythm and sonority, in his paintings; he eviscerates them and then juxtaposes them with the magnificent spaces of the Royal Apartments, almost redefining the concept of site-specific works. Inside four large decorative empty frames, positioned in the prestigious apartments, the artist has created large ‘bespoke’ paintings that seem to fill a void, a silence, present in the historic decoration and furnishings. The stillness of the paintings is accentuated by a discreet and musical rhythm.
Just as ‘chamber music’ has a restrained and intimate dimension, in this particular ‘concerto’ conceived by Marrocco, the canvas seeks a subtle bond and a special relationship with the furnishings of the Villa Reale.
The exhibition project is under the patronage of the Municipality of Monza and the Lombardy Region, curated by Piero Addis and Giuseppe Bonini.
