Visit the Santa Maria delle Grazie, a fifteenth-century basilica located in the heart of Milan, and discover one of the city’s most important landmarks with a multilingual audioguide! The Basilica is most widely known for being the home of 'The Last Supper', the iconic painting by Italian artist, Leonardo da Vinci. However, the Basilica also boasts a fascinating and significant history that is undoubtedly worth discovering. It was built on the order of the Duke of Milan, Francesco I Sforza, to transform and elevate the former ancient Solariano convent. Its construction was completed in 1497 and at the request of the Duke, Ludovico il Moro, it was destined to become the mausoleum of the Sforza family. Today, Santa Maria delle Grazie is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of Milan’s finest examples of Renaissance and Gothic architecture. As you stroll through the venue, admire the Basilica’s charming interior, so intricately designed by Bramante and Solari. As you marvel at its hidden treasures, including the Bramante grandstand, one of the Basilica’s most admirable Renaissance pieces, you can tune into your multilingual audio guide to hear all about their fascinating histories.
