The original part of the Cremonese Museum of Natural History consists of the collection that the Marquis Giuseppe Sigismondo Ala Ponzone (1761-1842) left as a gift to Cremona and which is exposed in the first Hall of the Museum.

From hall 2 to 5 you will find the following sections:
• mineralogy - numerous pieces, macroscopic and/or microscopic samples, for each class of minerals.
• paleontology - some small pieces belonging to different geological moments, as well as a collection of quaternary vertebrates, particularly interesting for the Cremona area. The collections are exhibited according to the chronological criterion.
• zoological - pieces that present the framework of animal systematics. The collections are exposed according to the evolutionary criterion. The unicellular organisms are proposed in the laboratory through observations under the microscope. Some examples of invertebrates are proposed, such as Porifera, Cnidaria, mollusks, arthropods (insects) and echinoderms. Vertebrates, on the other hand, are fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
Hall 6 - Nautical environment and urban environment
The hall is dedicated to a collection of fauna from the Cremonese province.  You can find some of the species most easily recognizable in environments close to the rivers, or in the small residual forest areas.
Hall 7 - Biodiversity Room
The room conserves some embalmed animals of species present in Cremona between the eighteenth century and today, and the path re-proposes the effects of human interventions on the balance of flora and fauna.
Hall 8 - Classroom
The teaching room is available to organize activities with schools both from Cremona and from other cities.  A library for children is also available.
